Warm, expert support to help regulate your cycle, manage symptoms and restore your hormonal wellbeing naturally.

PMOS (formerly PCOS)

Polycystic Ovary Syndrome (PCOS) was officially renamed Polyendocrine Metabolic Ovarian Syndrome (PMOS) in May 2026.

The new name gives us a much better understanding of what the condition really involves. For years, the focus has been on the ovaries, but we now recognise that PMOS affects so much more, including hormones, metabolism, menstrual cycles and overall wellbeing.

Not everyone with PMOS has polycystic ovaries, and the condition can affect women in very different ways.

I think this change is a positive step towards recognising the bigger picture and understanding the many ways PMOS can affect women's health, not just fertility.

Understanding PMOS

PMOS is a widespread endocrine condition that affects much more than just your cycle. It can affect ovulation, skin, metabolism and your daily energy.

Some women find their periods become unpredictable or stop entirely, while others notice physical changes such as persistent acne, hair thinning or unwanted hair growth. Many struggle with the metabolic shifts of insulin resistance, or with the emotional weight of navigating such a complex diagnosis. Yet for some, the symptoms remain subtle and quiet.

While PMOS is often talked about in relation to fertility, your health is about so much more. Your emotional wellbeing, confidence and long-term metabolic health matter just as much as your fertility.

Understanding your body & finding balance with PMOS

PMOS can sometimes feel frustrating, especially when your body doesn't seem to follow a predictable pattern.

Perhaps your periods are irregular, you're struggling with your skin, feeling constantly tired or noticing changes in your weight. Or maybe you've recently been diagnosed and are trying to make sense of what it all means.

Whatever has brought you here, PMOS affects every woman differently. There's no one-size-fits-all approach, and understanding what's happening in your body is a really good place to start.

Living with PMOS – how PCOS acupuncture help?

PMOS can affect your cycle, skin and metabolic health. Acupuncture works by supporting the communication between your brain and ovaries, helping to regulate ovulation and improve insulin sensitivity naturally. By reducing stress and inflammation, it creates a more balanced internal environment, helping you manage symptoms like irregular periods and hormonal acne while supporting your overall wellbeing in a gentle, unhurried way.

In my clinic in Cheadle, I like to look beyond the diagnosis and understand how PMOS is affecting you.

We'll talk about your menstrual cycle, sleep, stress levels, energy, digestion and any other symptoms that might be troubling you.

My approach to PCOS acupuncture is gentle and tailored to your individual needs, with a focus on helping you feel calmer, more supported and better able to manage the challenges that PMOS can bring.

You don't need to be trying to conceive to deserve that support.

Is this support for you?
