Fertility Acupuncture in Cheadle & Stockport

Personal, supportive fertility acupuncture from someone who understands that every fertility journey is different.

You don't have to navigate your fertility journey alone

Perhaps you've just started trying for a baby, or perhaps it's taking longer than you hoped. You may be preparing for IVF or finding your way forward after treatment or loss. Wherever you are, you deserve time, understanding and support.

I'm Sharnie, an acupuncturist specialising in fertility and female health. Having been through my own fertility journey, I understand how much the waiting, appointments, hope and uncertainty can take out of you. I also know how important it is to have somewhere you can talk openly and feel listened to.

My career began in science, with a BSc and an MSc. That background shapes everything I do: I combine my love of science with Chinese medicine to give each person a carefully tailored, holistic approach.

When you come to see me, we'll take time to understand your health, your fertility history and how you're really feeling. I like to look at the whole picture, your cycle, sleep, stress, lifestyle and any investigations or treatment. It's about joining the dots and supporting you as a whole person, with acupuncture tailored to where you are in your journey.

Most importantly, I care about the person, not just the fertility diagnosis. My aim is for you to feel listened to, calmer and clearer about the next steps.  I can work alongside your medical care, and anything that needs further investigation can be taken back to your GP or fertility team.

Personalised support for men trying to conceive or preparing for IVF or ICSI, with time to discuss your fertility, general health and practical lifestyle changes.

Pregnancy and birth preparation

Care and support as you move through pregnancy and prepare for the birth of your baby.

Miscarriage support

Gentle, compassionate support after pregnancy loss, with time for you and no pressure to decide what comes next.

What happens when you come to see me

Time to tell your story

We'll start by talking about what has brought you here, your health and fertility history, and how things are feeling for you. There is space for your questions too.

Looking at the details together

We can talk through your cycle, sleep, stress and any investigations or treatment you've had. If you have blood test or semen analysis results, you're welcome to bring them. We can discuss them and identify possible questions or further investigations to take back to your GP or clinic.

Your first acupuncture treatment

I'll explain what to expect and give you time to settle in. The needles are very fine, and we'll go at a pace that feels comfortable for you.

A plan that fits your life

We'll agree how often to meet, taking account of your circumstances and any fertility treatment dates. The plan can change as you move forward.

Appointments last 50–60 minutes at my clinic in Cheadle, Stockport.

However you are building your family, you are welcome here

I support women and men, people coming on their own and those coming with a partner. That includes female same-sex couples and solo parents, whether you're trying naturally, having IVF or ICSI, or using donor eggs or sperm.

There isn't one route to becoming a parent, and I believe your fertility care should reflect that. My clinic is a place where you can pause, breathe and talk openly, without judgement or assumptions.

Knowledge, experience and personal understanding

I'm a five-element acupuncturist with a Diploma in Fertility, Obstetrics and Gynaecology, a member of the British Acupuncture Council, and I've been practising since 2019.

My scientific background helps me bring a thoughtful, questioning approach to my work. I take an interest in your investigations and medical treatment, while keeping sight of your wellbeing and what matters to you.

Alongside that knowledge is a very personal understanding of the fertility journey. I want my treatment room to be somewhere you can ask questions, share how you're feeling and have the time you need.

"Sharnie is professional, highly knowledgeable and truly dedicated to her clients. She takes time to listen and tailor treatments, whilst digging for further trends (regarding my ovulation). I'm incredibly thankful for her help and would wholeheartedly recommend her to anyone seeking fertility or pregnancy support."

Yes. I see patients having treatment at Manchester Fertility and other clinics across the North West. We can plan your acupuncture appointments around your treatment dates.

Do you see people having treatment at Manchester Fertility?

Does acupuncture hurt?

The needles are very fine. You may notice a brief prick, a tingle or a dull ache, although sensations vary. I'll explain everything first, and you can tell me at any point if something feels uncomfortable.

Can I have acupuncture alongside IVF or fertility medication?

Acupuncture appointments can be planned alongside fertility treatment. Let me know about your medication and your clinic's plan so I can take them into account. Keep following your fertility team's advice and let them know about any complementary care you're having.

How often will I need to come?

That depends on your circumstances and what is practical for you. We'll talk it through at your first appointment and agree a plan together, adjusting it as things change or around your clinic's dates.

When should I start?

Where possible, I usually recommend starting two to three months before a planned IVF cycle. This gives us time to understand your health and circumstances, establish regular appointments and discuss any relevant lifestyle changes. If treatment has already started, you're still welcome to get in touch. We can look at what fits around your current stage.

Is fertility acupuncture only for people having IVF?

No. You don't need to be having IVF, or have a fertility diagnosis, to come and see me. Some people come when they first start trying; others have been trying for longer, are having investigations or are preparing for treatment. There is more on the Trying to conceive and IVF support pages.
